BRONTË NAYLOR BODYACHE

BODYACHE: Brontë Naylor’s Poignant Exploration of Love, Loss, and Grief at Wester Gallery

On December 6th, Wester Gallery played host to the highly anticipated opening of BODYACHE, a striking new body of work by multidisciplinary artist Brontë Naylor. The evening saw an engaged crowd immerse themselves in Naylor’s deeply introspective paintings—works that speak in hushed tones yet carry immense emotional weight.

BODYACHE is an explorative and revealing collection that pushes through the ends, edges, and folds of grief, love, and mourning. Stripping back to a more immediate and quiet aesthetic, Naylor allows raw emotion to surface, embracing the power of ambiguity. Through layered compositions, she invites viewers into a space where the boundaries between flesh, metal, and landscape blur, reflecting the unresolved nature of loss and memory.

Throughout the gallery, textured surfaces and muted palettes echoed the weight of absence, while shadows crept into creases and folds—silent reminders of what remains unspoken. The interplay between presence and erasure, form and dissolution, heightened the tension in the works, offering no easy resolutions but instead leaving space for contemplation.

As guests moved through the exhibition, conversations drifted between personal reflection and admiration for Naylor’s ability to capture the fragile duality of pain and beauty. The night was one of quiet resonance, where art became a vessel for mourning, love, and the intangible ache that lingers in between.

For those yet to experience it, BODYACHE remains on display at Wester Gallery, offering visitors a chance to step into Naylor’s world—one where time collapses, emotions unfold, and the complexities of grief take shape in deeply affecting ways.
